Optical mirrors and replicated components
Optical mirrors and other 3D electroformed parts are produced at MicroStencil using a electroplating replication process on a conductive master. These parts can then be subsequently coated with optical coatings to provide the correct reflectivity and scratch resistance.
Parts are formed with low stress and good thickness uniformity and therefore follow the profile of the master exactly. Electroplated mirrors typically have a better quality over injection molded components and are cheaper to mass-produce over diamond turned parts.
The mirrors can be up to 400mm x 400mm in size. This process is well suited for volume requirements as a high number of parts can be produced sequentially from one master. Up to 2mm thickness on these parts is possible.
